The reason why frappe is so popular
Cafe frappe became so popular because it’s highly palatable. It has the perfect flavour balance composed of the sourness and bitterness from the coffee, the sweetness of the sugar and the flavours are enhanced by the fat from the milk, cream or ice cream. If salt is added, for example in salty caramel frappe, then you have the perfect flavour combination.
Where does coffee frappe come from?
History of frappe
Frappe originates from Greece, where it was initially a popular chocolate drink for children. In 1957 Giannis Dritsas, a Nestle representative, combined instant chocolate with cold milk using a shaker. Not long after that, an adult version with instant coffee instead of chocolate powder was created, this is how cafe frappe was invented.
Do frappes have caffeine?
Yes, frappes have caffeine. You can get frappes in many cafes, or as takeaways, even in McDonalds. Frappes look like a cold milky frothy drink, but they are based on coffee, so yes, they do contain caffeine.
Is frappe a cold or hot drink?
Frappe is always served cold.
Frappe vs freddo vs freddo cappuccino
What is the difference between cafe frappe and espresso freddo?
They are very similar but the difference between frappe and espresso freddo is when the ice is added. Espresso freddo is made in a shaker in which all ingredients are mixed together. To make frappe you need to foam coffee with water first, and ice cubes are added later.
A version of freddo – freddo cappuccino
Freddo also has a version called freddo cappuccino – in this one the basic freddo is topped with cold foamed milk.
Frappe vs Frappuccino
What is the difference between coffee frappe and Frappuccino?
Unless we are talking about the traditional Greek frappe without milk, Frappuccino and frappe are basically the same. The difference is in the name – Frappuccino is a trademarked name which belongs to Starbucks, so no one else can use it. Frappe and Frappuccino are coffee drinks with milk and ice, often with added whipped cream, syrups or spices.
Do Frappuccinos contain caffeine?
Yes, Frappuconos are coffee-based drinks, so they contain caffeine.
Frappe vs latte
What is the difference between latte and frappe?
They may look the same, but there is a huge difference between frappe and latte. Latte is served hot, while frappe is served cold with ice. Also there may be many different things added to frappe such as syrups, spices or ice cream.
