How to make dalgona coffee?

To make an impressively looking dalgona coffee, you need to whipp equal amounts of instant coffee, sugar and hot water. For example, use equal measurements, just like these: 

  • Instant coffee – 2 spoons
  • Sugar – 2 spoons
  • Hot water – 2 spoons

Whipp all of these together until you get a thick creamy foam. Once you have a thick foam, add hot or cold milk. 

Serving tips

If you want to create a more indulgent drink, you can top it up with cocoa, chocolate, various syrups or biscuits; you can also serve it in deserts or alcoholic drinks. The combinations are endless, you can get really creative.

Dalgona is named after a South Korean candy made from sugar and baking soda. This Korean sweet is a sort of honeycomb toffee or sponge toffee, a popular treat for children. Although dalgona coffee doesn’t actually contain the original Korean sweet snack, it took its name after the candy because of its visual resemblance.
